Echoes Of My Past.

----- Echoes of my past ----

"Kemisola, don't think you would run away from me.

I will always find you".

That voice sent cold shivers down my spine.

Even in my dreams I recognized that particular voice.

I ran away from my village years ago

Without telling anyone the reason.

But then let me just say anyways

After all I have been found.

Ayomide.

She was the first female friend I had.

Ayo was beautiful,

Her eyes were blue,

Like that of a blue sea.

She had nice figures and her dark curly hair.

Ayo had a good accent like that of British.

We bonded very well,

From junior secondary.

Ayo loved reading novels alot.

Especially dark ones.

Though I found them weird.

But I ended up loving them.

My mama taught me never to eat any thing given to me by a stranger.

Hence I never got to eat anything she gave me.

We were friends until the last day at secondary school.

We decided to take a walk around since the hall was reeking of sweat.

We walked down the hall towards the school farm,

It was evening and everywhere was deserted.

I just had this gut feeling that something wasn't nice.

Ayo, please let's go back I pleaded.

She didn't respond.

That point I starred into her eyes,

They were red.

I didn't know when I shouted "blood of Jesus".

Ayo fell and quickly regained consciousness.

I never thought about it.

So we went back to the hall together.

Next morning she visited me,

And we went sight seeing.

I had never visited a zoo but she opted we go to the stream.

Without much ado we went to the stream.

Ayo started humming a song,

Though it sounded like just a song.

I knew there was more to what she wasn't saying.

Finally at the stream we saw lot's of sacrifices made by the villagers.

Ayo turned and starred into space until she started tearing.

"Kemi, she said.

I'm from this stream.

Same as my mother.

My life span is fading away.

I brought you here so they would see you.

Once I'm gone.

Every October 27th,

Make sure to bring them one catch or you wouldn't exceed five years.

I was stunned".

Fear gripped me.

Tears ran down my eyes ceaselessly.

After she was done speaking.

She smiled that mischievous smile and said let's go home.

I got to my house

And went straight to my room.

I couldn't say a word to anyone less they die.

Ayo said "tell no more".

For days I couldn't think straight.

Until I thought of running away.

Well it's five years today

My worst nightmares are coming back to haunt me.

Though I ran away

They still found me.

By the time you read this.

I wouldn't be here anymore

Blame no one for my demise.

Ayo had beckoned on me.

I have to go now.
